  • Do a paper or class assignment on violence prevention
  • Look out for friends at parties and bars and other high risk situations
  • Attend violence prevention events
  • Tell other people about your green dots
  • Volunteer for your local service provider
  • Check in with friends if you are concerned about their safety and get them connected to help
  • Put green dot info on your Facebook page and your email signature line

Green Dots for ALL Students

  • Tell a friend of yours that ending violence is important to you.
  • Add the phrase, "GREEN DOT supporter" to your Facebook or MySpace profile.
  • Using email, test, Facebook or MySpace--send a mass message out to all your friends that violence prevention matters to you, and give them the link to campus or community resources.
  • Visit the center on campus or in the community that addresses violence against women or power-based personal violence and volunteer for one hour.
  • If you are concerned that a friend of yours might be a victim of violence, gently ask if you can help and respect their answer.
  • Attend a program or event designed to raise awareness about violence.
  • Create a fundraiser for a campus or community organizatio nthat works to address violence.
  • Look for for friends at parties or where alcohol is involved to ensure everyone arrives and leaves together.
  • Work to bring an education program to your class or group.
  • Hang a prevention poster on your door.

  • Assign books and papers about violence prevention
  • Tell students you are a safe person to talk to
  • Get training on warning signs of perpetration and victimization and respond when you see
    them
  • Talk to colleagues about green dot
  • Coordinate teacher in-services with local service providers
  • Post green dot materials in your classroom
  • Work with administration to ensure strong violence prevention and response policies
